ORNAMENTAL CHOCHORI

Image
ORNAMENTAL CHOCHORI Hi all, hope you had a great friendship week. This friendship week my dad’s friend from Bangalore visited our house surprisingly. Uncle and aunty were talking about the good old days and what they used to like a lot. They were chatting about their food habits. Aunty was talking about 'Oal, Kochu, Ghatkol'  and how much they miss these foods in Bangalore. Then, my mom the prepared Ornamental Chochori for them. We had it many times but never thought that people could miss Oal badly. Then I came to know about the health benefits. I was astonished that a vegetable which I never thought so important has now become my weekly routine and thus have named it ‘Ornamental’ As Oal is not so tasty by itself, you need to cook it differently. I have shared the recipe with Hilsa head as it changes the complete taste and also Hilsa nurtures the dish to another level. Another fact is that it can grow on any type of soil anywhere. So, you can plant it in your ...

BONG SUSHI

Image
BONG SUSHI Hello all, I am back after almost two weeks with an innovative recipe-Bong Sushi. You have heard of Sushi many times but have you tasted it? I personally haven't.  I want to but, very fewer options in my place. My sis asked if I could make Sushi for her which left me in deep trouble. Then I started off with my research but in vain. Suddenly, Bong Sushi clicked. Making the dish was fun. When my sis tried, she was like "Di, you are a food artist, I must admit..." Sushi is a Japanese dish, that looks like small balls or rolls. It is mainly made of vinegar floured rice and served with a garnish of vegetable, raw seafood etc. It is an appetizer.  The ingredients needed to prepare Sushi are very rare to find in my place. Thus, I have used all local ingredients. Those who hate to have Taro leaves/Kochu pata will fall in love with this dish. The succulent smell of the dish is hypnotizing. I personally hate all these leaves but when I came up...

SHAHI TUKDA

Image
Shahi Tukda I think the picture says everything. Frankly speaking, I wasn't prepared to cook this dish. But, last week, I meet one of my friends and while chatting I came to know that he has heard of a sweet Mughal cuisine called Shahi Tukda and that he has never tasted it before. So, I thought of making Shahi Tukda at home and invited him to have it. He was astonished to see the dish on the table and couldn't figure out the main ingredients. Then, I asked him to keep an eye on my Blog this Wednesday. I have shared recipes of sweet dishes before too, where I have mentioned not to look after any health benefits while having sweets...Heavenly Peace.   Ingredients: (Serves 4) ·         Whole fat milk: 1 litre ·         Milkmaid:  3-4 tablespoon ·         Sugar as per taste ·         Bread ...

ILISH BHAPE

Image
ILISH BHAPE Is your mouth watering? Mine is!!! Looking at the snap itself. In Kolkata, monsoon has almost arrived and monsoon without Ilish aka Hilsha fish is like a life without romance. My granny used to say that not a single part of Ilish can be wasted. She was a " Bangal " and she used to cook various items with Ilish fish. We don't even omit the Machher tel (Fats of Hilsha), the gills, the Muro (head) etc. In fact, I can have my plate of rice with Ilish machh bhaja (Hilsha fry) and Machher tel. Ummmm...It's a bliss. The bewitched flavor makes it the king of its species. Generally, we don't use any other veggies while cooking Ilish as this is the only fish which carries its own flavor in a very different manner and it spreads its taste in the curry too. But Ilish Begun Jhol (Hilsha Brinjal Curry) is also a very common dish.  I have witnessed many fights between my grandpa and granny regarding Ilish and Chingri (Prawn). Basically, Opar Bangla...
